Listen to the Unmistakable Voice of Thurl Ravenscroft

You might not recognize the face of Thurl Ravenscroft, but you will certainly recognize his voice. Beginning in 1952, Thurl provided the voice for Tony the Tiger in Cornflakes commercials. He sang You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch and his quartet, the Mellomen sang in Disney movies like Lady and the Tramp. You can hear Thurl in 101 Dalmatians, The Sword and the Stone, Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, plus many more. In the parks, he is among other things, the voice of Buff, the buffalo head in Country Bear Jamboree, Fritz the German parrot in the Enchanted Tiki Room, and the narrator on the Disneyland Railroad. He can also be heard as the voice of several pirates in Pirates of the Caribbean.

You might not recognize Thurl’s face but you have probably seen it. The quartet of singing busts in the graveyard of the Haunted Mansion includes Thurl.  He’s the one with the mustache.
